Had my last day at Image Auto yesterday. Really glad about that because I had been loathing the job itself for the last year and was kinda but not really looking for something else. Also it really fucked up my back and hip, to the point where it's pretty difficult to have normal movement most parts of most days, and I don't really have a sitting position that's pain free. Recently did a month and a half of PT with a local place and it didn't help much at all. But I am still doing the stretches they taught me and I'm looking into going back to the chiropractor and trying a different PT place that focuses more on physical manipulation than stretching. That's all taking a break for a few months anyhow since there's a 90 day probation period at my new job before insurance kicks in. Company truck was returned today and thankfully over the weekend I got my personal vehicle back on the road. It had been sitting in our parking lot for the last two and a half years since I had the company vehicle, so it needed all new brakes and shit from just sitting around and getting rusted. Just under a grand to fix but it could have been much worse so that's alright.
So that part (new job) I'm definitely happy about. Going to be an Inventory Specialist and Quality Control tech for Wilbert's Lakeside, which is a place that takes all the usable parts off cars that can't drive anymore, cleans and polishes them and sells them at real nice prices. It's 5k more a year to start than I was making, 15 minutes down the road from my place, locally owned and operated and has some pretty decent benefits. I'll get more of a feel when I start tomorrow but I can see being here for a long time. Worked out great, had an interview with them two Mondays ago, then that Wednesday got the job offer, all based off a recommendation from one of the guys I did work for with Image Auto. It really is about who you know.
Just got some pressing issues with my teeth taken care of. I've been brushing and flossing more in the past 5 years then I ever have in my life, but I think the damage I did while drinking every day and puking often really screwed up my teeth because they are FUCKED. Spent 2k to get 3 teeth removed, some bone grafting, and my first set of dentures! Goddamnit I'm wearing dentures right now, not even 36! But I'm happy it's done, will be able to eat more than just soup very soon. The rest of the teeth are going to be projects for later down the road, as I don't have dental insurance right now (NEVER signed up for it with Image Auto like I THOUGHT I did) and the rest of the work was quoted at another 8k. But those aren't emergencies right now, and there are other options for getting them fixed (my sister recently went to El Salvador to get a root canal and a crown. Spending $700 on a plane ticket and then a total of $400 for the dental work was much cheaper than doing the work here, even with insurance). So that's a possibility for later.
Hadn't smoked/vaped/ate any fun stuff since Dec 3rd when I really got serious about looking for a new job, and over the weekend my buddy dropped off 16 brownies. Can't be mixing that with the pain meds from the surgery but I'm happy to have them in the fridge for now! Hoping the swelling and pain stays manageable for my first day tomorrow, but I'm excited to have a full smile again!
I was watching TV with my 3 year old. A Good Morning America commercial came on and they would have Jake Paul (brother of douchebag youtube celeb Logan Paul) as a guest. My daughter turned to me and said "I don't like that guy. I just don't like him." I almost cried (in joy).
