Thread: I'm feeling Nostalgic

  1. I'm feeling Nostalgic

I'm sitting here at my pc listening to old beatmania music and feeling totally nostalgic... I used to play this game with one of my friends and sucking so totally bad, but always enjoyed it. It reminds me of 97' when I started going to this anime club and yeah I know all you guys out there think that an anime club is lame, but it's where I met a majority of my friends, played a majority of video games and had the most fun of my late teen and early 20 years. Every Saturday starting at 4pm we would meet up at the Southfield Center for the Arts and pay 6 bucks to sit and watch anime. We would prolly do this for the first hour then a group of people that would have brought their Saturn's, PSX, or N64s would start playing something. X-men VS Street Fighter, Goldeneye, Saturn Bomberman... what ever was hot at the time we play it for hours usually till 4 in the morning. Back before we had mortgages, girlfriends, and jobs. You think it would end after we got kicked out of that establishment, but we found another. Media Play let us host a club there and (it just happened to be next to a mall) before long we would find ourselves in the arcade playing shit then meeting up at other people house's to play shit till late in the morning.

This would end after finding and getting kicked out of 3 more establishments over the next 6 years. I got a girlfriend and started to spend much time with her and stopped play as much video games or watching as much anime as I used to. I'm still friends with all those people that went to the club tho I don't see them as much. Some moved away, some went insane, and others like me got jobs and responsibilities. I sit and sometimes wish I could go back and play video games like I have no cares in the world. Still living with mother, having a part time job and no girlfriend... well I would rather have the girlfriend.

You can never go back how much you try. Every once in a while I'll call some of them up who are still around to watch anime at my house and we get to talking about things, but it never feels the same...

I guess the biggest part is probably not watching the anime or playing the video games, but feeling like you are losing friends. Even tho you are still friends you don't hang out as much and that's probably the feeling I miss the most.

And this is what I keep saying is the best thing about the xbox360: the ease and ability to hook up with friends like this and hang out doing what you all like to do.

Of course it's never the same as doing it in person. And Nintendo doesn't get this. Playing online with them is like trying to meet all your buddies in a prison and get together.

There are no rules, only consequences.

  3. I finally got online with my 360, I'd love to start adding you guys and playing games with you (this is the first time I've ever done consoles online.) But I know the nostalgic feeling, I used to hang out with my buddies every or every other night and play everything from SNES to Xbox and it was just awesome times filled with great convos, and then the one guy I did that with the most got into PC shit and completely dumped consoles and everyone else just kinda stopped getting together to do it. But every time I fire up DOA 3 or Bomberman that shit comes back and playing that shit with you guys sounds like some fun to me.

  4. I don't look back, I look forward. The past is always better when you look back in rose-tinted glasses, but if you think about it, you were probably going thru some shit that you don't ever want to relive. You can't have one and not the other.

Anyway, XBL is great. I used to stay away from online games but since playing with TNL members who are (mostly) nice, I am enjoying the games and the community that much more.

Plus, I got too much stuff going on with my life and it is always very exciting (expecting our first child, possibly moving to suburb, etc etc etc)

  5. XBL is great because I can talk shit to g0zen. It's fun.
