Thread: Official Car Thread :: Vol 2 :: Now with More Bikes!

  1. Alfa Romeo has a contract with Chrysler again. So, their cars will be released. No price yet and not sure if it will be here in the States, Mark.

  2. What i did today! I went to OTD and they had compression springs! Bought one, went home, spent an hour prying open my clutch, put the spring in with 8.5 rollers, super heavy! Took my scooter for a spin and pow, the new compression spring is so strong that the belt wasn't even able to open the clutch, meaning that i went nowhere. After a few tries, the weak stock belt finally pried that sucker open and she screamed like a banshee. RPM's shot sky high and she accelerated faster than ever, and the little hill crawler ate those nasty hills. Only problem is she hit the limiter at 30mph. So i ordered a Kevlar belt to pry the drive train open so it could actually make high gear and get back to gaining top end instead of killing it. Should be in late next week along with a hill-killing variator to give her a wee bit more gearing. Will she finally show the speedometer what's business?
Also my big slide carb came in! Now to wait until someone stocks a cheap slide throttle cable and the intake manifold. Then she will truly be a hill eating Battle Scooter. After that, the only small mods left are switching out the 2004 ECM for a 2006 ECM, getting a high rev limit CDI, and lighten the clutch, erm, about $400 worth. Then it's on to the heavy mods. Big. Bore. O_O High. Output. Cam. O_O
    Donk

  3. That Alfa interior is a billion times more appealing to me than a Mini. Center gauges begone.

I remember my ex who worked for Grand Central Terminal was in charge of the events that take place there. She told me that her coworker won a Ferrari in a raffle contest. He ended up selling it cuz he knew he'll be taxed the shit out of and other fees such as maintenance. So he sold his raffle ticket to someone and got the money instead.
Lexus paid the Gift Tax so all my dad had to do was pay for sales tax and pay for the addins he got.

I love that Alpha. Since all the domestics are scrambling to get smaller cars into show rooms it would be a no brainer to form some agreements with Alpha and Fiat. Chrysler needs it the most. What is that contract you're referring to for?

  6. Hold on ...

Followup [5/27]: Alfa Romeo brand chief Luca de Meo officially confirmed this weekend his company has been in talks with Chrysler about cooperating on U.S. production. The comments were made during an interview with Germany’s WirtschaftsWoche. Rumors about Chrysler producing Alfa Romeo cars first broke in April, but this is the first official confirmation we’ve heard.

Original Story [4/15]: It seems Chrysler is desperately trying to form allegiances and partnerships with other automakers in order to be profitable again, as it partnered up with Nissan on Monday to produce a full-size pick-up for the Japanese automaker in exchange for a small car, with the two companies basically trading products each has traditionally excelled at.

The latest move, although it is far from being confirmed, has the Michigan-based carmaker in talks of a cooperation with Italy’s Fiat to produce Alfa Romeo sports cars on U.S. soil. Alfa announced late last month it will have a U.S. factory picked out by the end of May.

Fiat has also made headlines lately as it is fixing on bringing its new 500 Stateside. If not Alfas, then maybe Chrysler will build Fiats? Or both?

Whatever the case, a report due for release on Wednesday in Germany’s Handelsblatt newspaper says talks between Chrysler and Fiat are advanced.
Handelsblatt has learned Chrysler could produce the cars for Fiat subsidiary Alfa Romeo,” read and excerpt in the paper on Tuesday. “Industry sources say the talks are moving forward.”

Fiat reps wouldn’t comment, but according to the report, a Chrysler spokeswoman goes on record to say news of the talks are just speculation, adding “There could be other partnerships with other carmakers.”

I can't see the General selling off Pontiac. I think it's their brand that has made the greatest strides over the past few years, with Saturn in second place. Hummer? I can imagine an overseas company getting it if it contains rights to the actual Hummer.

  9. They wouldn't sell Pontiac or GMC, just kill them.
