Give it time.
I dodged a wreck a couple days ago. Some butt rocket cut a u-turn in the middle of the road, the car behind them smashed into it, and I had to dodge both them and a bunch of flying taillight plastic and metal bits. It was exciting. Had I hit the breaks I would have smashed into one of the cars.
So...Drove with a buddy this past friday to Statten Island to get yet another Daytona for parts. Was going to be $400, ended up paying $200. All sorts of goodies to get mine and his long term projects finished, plus and uber hard to find Mopar short-throw shifter, and a complete intercooler setup, and a spare getrag built 5-speed tranny. All in all, worth the drive.
But ....Fuck the cross bronx expressway. Jesus christ, how does anywhere live there and own a car? firetrucks and ambulances can't even catch a break trying to get to the very accident that is causing a jam

Here's a perplexing question: Why the fuck do all old people drive Buick Lesabres??? The Buick Lesabre HAS to be the number one selling car in the 70+ year old demographic. Or am I the only one who sees no one under 70 driving Buick Lesabres?
I notice these things.
Car and Driver did another of their Lightning Lap sessions, lapping a host of performance-biased cars around Virginia International Raceway. The Chevy Cobalt SS Turbocharged (a $23k car) beat a bunch of cars it shouldn't have, including the Lancer Evo MR, BMW 135i, Lotus Elise SC, Audi S5, Impreza STi, Lexus IS F...
The article is on their site but it seems to be gettin' hit pretty hard so it's not loading for me, but here's the PDF with the results.
Some interesting results.
You should know first hand, never underestimate GM's ability to build an engine. That Turbo Ecotec is an amazing piece of machinery. The only people who don't see that are JDM fanboys.
I am waiting for the onslaught of "well....the Cobalt has a crappy interior since its a GM" letters to the editor to C&D next month.
LOL @ the VW R32 and the ($30,000!!!!) Mugen SI. Even the shitty bloated Caliber beat them. And the Mopar guy in my loooooves to see the Viper ACR smoke the GT-R by almost 7 seconds.![]()

I'd still take an R32 over a Cobalt SS anyday. Well it DOES have a really crappy GM interior.
The F in IS-F must stand for fail since it got bitch slapped by the M3 and 135i. The S5 is disappointing too. How completely pointless is the 'S' designation considering a standard 335i will smoke it?
Don't discredit new "no lift" shifting that's showing up in the new Cobalt and HHR SSes. I hear that adds quite a t bit of oomph.
The Viper ACR is quite strong indeed. I wish Ford still made GTs so I'd have a super car to rally behind. The GT500 KR is good but not quite a super car.![]()
