That's really ugly. I'd rather buy a base GT and add some stuff myself. I'm sure it'd be much cheaper that way too, these special Mustangs are usually way overpriced.

What state are you in? What is insurance like? I am curious about these things...
I'm in Oregon, where anything over 50cc requires a motorcycle endorsement. The endorsement required a three-day class (which, now that it's over, I'm glad I took) and ended up being about $300 all said. I paid $75 for a year of liability coverage, but I have heard people talk of insurance as low as $40/year.
I'll be avoiding the freeway with it, although it is legal -- it can get up to speed, but at that point the wind from other vehicles can be pretty brutal. It is great for highway/city/backroad trips.
I did quite a lot of research before I bought mine. If you don't have the dough for a Vespa/Piaggio, the Genuine Buddy here is the next best thing. After that, possibly the Yamaha Vino, which is cheaper still.
Josh, I thought you had a scooter at some point.
Nice Buddy! I think if I were getting a new scoot, it'd be a Buddy.
P.S. Coming home from downtown this evening, I saw a Vespa with ape hanger handlebars on Van Ness. Entirely dumb, but I'm glad that guy/gal has them.

A Metropolitan. I love it. I don't get to ride it as much as I would like.
The Metropolitans are nice looking scooters. 1000 miles is pretty low considering how long you've had it. Is Baltimore very two-wheel friendly?
Edit: I just got home from a nice 2am ride. No cars anywhere, today's rain dropped the temperature quite a bit, and the roads dried up. Beautiful.
