Thread: GGPO

  1. GGPO

Anyone here tried out GGPO? It's a small netcode program that runs along with a Street Fighter Alpha 2 emulator.

I'm not usually interested in playing 1) emulators or 2) games on my PC in general, but the netcode for GGPO is surprisingly solid. I've played Street Fighter online before and it's always been shit. GGPO is definitely not shit. Totally playable with only a hint of lag if you play with an opponent with low ping.

I've been playing a bit since I was introduced last week. Username is MarkRyan.

P.S. I hope talking about an emulator is okay.

  2. Tried it out, but waiting for it to get out of beta and include it in some better emulators. I hope they open source it.

  3. I read about it. It does sound good, but I'm usually playing on XBOX Live. Also running Ubuntu so I don't want to bother going back to Windows.

  4. Can't really try it out, here, but any potential Kaillera replacement is long overdue and welcome.

  5. I played on it, it ain't nothin special

well they wrote the client in some sort of .net (C# I think) so they might be able to port it to gtk with mono or something later on when it gets more stable

  6. That's cool. I'll probably end up fixing my laptop one of these days (overheating problems) and reinstall Windows on anyways for emulation and random games I'd like to try out, so no biggie.

It is in that it's the first fighting game I've played online where I didn't incessantly curse the lag.
