Thread: Favorite Shmup Developer? (Past or Present)

  1. Favorite Shmup Developer? (Past or Present)

    Not like Halo, or Doom.

    Anyways

    Konami
    Toaplan
    Capcom

Because all good stuff (CAVE, Raizing/Eighting, and Treasure) branch off from these. Dunno about Capcom, though the 194x series was great. So was Progear, though that was mainly CAVE...

(Wonder how this thread will go... If there is another thread on this, apologies... It could be a version 2.)
Still not thinking right? Then it isn't working.

  2. I like Valve.

  3. lol

also, it's the typical answer, but probably Cave. Raizing is great, though.

  4. [insert generic CAVE fanboyism sortofish favortism comment here]

But I can't, played more Toaplan than Cave. I'm a bit poor actually.

  5. I love how Konami tends to stick shmupy levels in some games.

  6. 19XX is the only Capcom shmup that holds up all that well.

I'd say Treasure, G.rev, and Seibu Kaihatsu are my faves. Honorable mention to Cave, Takumi and Psikyo.

  7. Who makes these games? Because they actually look interesting, these bosses have some really cool bullet patterns.

I think the link was broken, I checked it and saw an extra bracket. I think it works now.

    ...

    Awesome you found Touhou.

ZUN, his company known as Team Shanghai Alice. Even though it's one man. He made the company for... publishing I beleive?

It's indy, but very high quality.

EDIT: And hard as hell to find.
