Thread: The Music Video Thread

  1. You Tube Music Video Thread

A thread entitled "Youtube killed the radio star" on another forum I frequent. Unbeknownst to me youtube is a fucking treasuretrove of live performances and music videos and all kinds of stuff. Everything from your run of the mill mtv video to rare performances. Anyway, I thought id make a thread on here to share some of the more interesting thing posted on the other forum, as well as a place to share you finds.

    - The Replacements playing Kick Your Door Down, live 1981

-Stevie Wonder tearing it up on Sesame Street

    - Saturday Night Live used to be so hip. Captain Beefheart on SNL.

    - This video has to be really rare. The Monks playing a handful of songs on a German TV show. God were these guys amazing.

    - 2 Dead Kennedys performances

Roxy Music - Remake Remodel live 1973

    The Feelies - Crazy Rhythm

    Mississippi John Hurt

    Comets on Fire

Animal Crackers, featuring a young Ted Leo

WTF Bjork talking about her tv

I'm not familiar with this band, Subtle, on anticon, but this is a pretty awesome performance.

    Buzzcocks

Lots of other great stuff on there. Lots of old blues and country musicians, so post what you find.

"Hangin' Tree" by QOTSA, Live at VHQ... ACOUSTIC WTF

"A Little More For You" by The Hives, aka one of the best live bands in the world.

One of my favorite punk bands, DIE! DIE! DIE!, ripping shit up for a few seconds lawl

"Dress" by PJ Harvey, live at the Big Day Out. I was looking for a specific performance of Rid Of Me where she was the only person on stage and completely fucking owned the entire festival, but I can't find it anywhere.

I love that video. Every link I see of it though is that old, choppy "120 Minutes" premier copy of it that has been floating around for years.

Did they ever release this on a DVD or anything?

  9. David Lee Roth, Drunk at US Festival in the 80's - Rumor has it that he was so drunk before the show that he was passing in and out and vomiting, he snorted several lines of coke, perked up and went on stage. This goes on after like the Second song I guess. There is some weird random crap at the start and end of video, and contains no music in the whole thing.

XTC - Neon Shuffle - Fucking shredding song and performance, before XTC became a wicked lame 80's prog wannabe new wave band and hung out with Todd Rundgren.

T Bone Burnett - Palestine, Texas This was on Leno a few weeks ago. Never heard of him, but I guess he's won all sorts of grammys. This song chugs and was a real awesome suprise one night. T-Bone Burnett is wicked cool, cool like how it was originally meant to be.

removed - Larry Graham showcases his super chopper bass thumpin' pluckin slap bass technique - Skinny black guy in a ice cream suit hoots and hollars as he chugs out some AWESOME bass.
