    Control

Apparently this is out SOMEWHERE here in the US, but nowhere near me. The review was on Ebert & Roeper and it's supposed to be good. I don't know... It's a British movie about a depressing subject... It could be really boring. I'm surprised to see a movie about this considering how much time in 24 Hour Party People was devoted to the same thing.

  2. This had a wide release here earlier this month and I poked my girlfriend to see it for a few weeks, but something about the crippling depressing story of a 24 year old singer marrying too young, and then killing himself when he was on the brink of worldwide success didn't seem to appealing to her.

From what I understand it's really morose, unlike 24 Hour Party People which was pretty cheeky--although from what I read, largely inaccurate. The actors also played all of the music in Control even though they had never played their instruments before because the songs were so easy, lawl.

Yeah, but the inaccuracies of 24 Hour Party People were purposeful and done for entertainment value. That was a really good movie. This looks a bit heavy. But could still be good.

  4. I heard its good, and supposedly one of the nicest shot films in years. The acting looks spot on too. I'd love to see it.

  5. It's a really beautiful film, but pretty heavy. Not really spoilers.

I fucking love the scene where he's going to work and it looks like he is wearing completely professional clothes and then it shows his back and he has "HATE" written in big white letters on his jacket. The witty banter from Gretton(sp?) lightened up a pretty dark film, "It's in my FUCK OFF pocket." lol; the ending was pretty fucking powerful, I think everybody in the cinema would have known how the story ends, but it didn't stop a couple of people bursting into tears, and a couple of people leaving the theatre looking very uncomfortable (I was one of them), I blame "Atmosphere" completely.
