Knowing that someday you will die makes life worth living. If I knew I had forever (which is a concept I don't really think any of us can fully realize) to get around to doing something I'd never get out of bed.

Without the inevitable death there is no meaning to life.

Accomplishment in itself is the only motivation I need. Being immortal wouldn't keep me in bed, because I know someone somewhere would be getting out of his and making bread instead of me.

Random estimation of a large number to get the point across that after a long while your memory might not function in the way it does within the confines of a 100 year life mostly. That and detailed surveys of 1200 year old people. (Connor MacLeod)

I think you've been taken in by writers who were feeling bitter about not getting to be immortal.

I've never read about immortality. The first time I gave the idea any serious consideration was right before I wrote that post.
