Thread: TNL Blog

  1. Why not just make a regular forum post?

I'm not sold on the blog idea at all, but on the train ride in this morning, I was thinking we should have a weekly thread in the vein of the Junto Society. We have a lot of good thinkers here, and maybe even one or two great ones, so we should make it a tradition to come up with a new topic weekly.

I think I'll start one this Monday. Blogs are for attention whores, but an ongoing series of focused discussions on deeper topics will be beneficial to the community.

  2. but they aren't web 2.0 enough

  3. I have an elitist streak. It's been pointed out before. I like good discussion, not look-I'm-posting-too stuff.

  4. How did they have discussion forums before the internet? Did you actually have to go to one place and actually talk with one another? Man. Fuck that.

  5. I'm only reading it if IP writes every post without spellchecking.

And get this: it used to be that only opinions that made some kind of sense were published and news had to at least pretend to be impartial and fact-checked. Now news and opinion are cheap in more ways than one.

Eh web 2.0 for old people. VRML is where all the cool kids are.

  8. I am glad you opened my eyes to the Junto society. That shit sounded amazing.
    Check out Mr. Businessman
He bought some wild, wild life
On the way to the stock exchange
He got some wild, wild life

  9. And the opposite of Web 2.0.

  10. I certainly think this could work.

EDIT: Also, if you need any other participants I'd be happy to join.
