My moms side of the family is from the deep south (souf?) and I always called the grandpa and great grandpa "pah-paw".
I called mine Papi. And my granny is Nani.

I called my grand dad pa pah. (short a on the first syllable, second syllable like paw). German side of the family, but I have no idea if that had anything to do with it.
On my mother's side, it's Nanny and Poppy. A picture of me with them included. On my father's side, it was just Grandma and Grandpa.
