I'm not sure. I'd write down my settings just in case. On my last router, the documentation for the dd-wrt firmware said it was a one way flash, you couldn't undo it. That freaked me out a bit.
firmware flases dont nuke your settings do they?

yeah most flashes for anything work that way. ill see if any of the bullet points interest me since i really have no reason to reflash (no dropped signals here).
Same here, no need to flash for me.
Our D-link router crapped out on us a while ago. I got terrible signal anyways, and we only have a 2-bedroom apartment.
So the WRT-54G works pretty well? It's $50 from Best Buy and it just so happens that I have a gift card for that amount.
It works well enough but be prepared for random and not so random drops on your wireless signal.
There's a couple versions of the wrt54g, I have just the stock wrt54g and it's been rock solid for a couple of years now. (I want to say 2 1/2 or so) No problems with dropped signals or anything, on the other hand my sister had the wrt54gs (the one with speed boost) and she's had 3 die on her. First one died, linksys replaced it, 2 months later that one died linksys replaced it again, that one died and she went out and bought a regular wrt54g, and has had no problems since.
Alright, thanks for the input. Sounds like a decent performer for the price.
I did not read the thread so I am not sure what the budget is, but in regards to home wireless routers over the years through my job and for personal use I have dealt with hundreds of different brands and models.
In my opinion without a single doubt the DGL-4100/4300 and newer is the best I have ever put my hands on.

I got the WRT-54G and it works just as it should. I haven't had any drops or anything yet, and I get a good signal.
