I agree. Not everyone will. And there will be those who view the destruction of privacy as a wonderful thing. Fuck, it's already happening.
I'd like to add, that as we live now, we each wear many masks. We have the mask we wear to work, the one we wear to school, the one for friends, the one for lovers, the one for parents, etc.
If this site is right, eventually we will lose our mask and we will all be shown for who really are. And who really are, will be remembered for eternity.
As of right now, none of us can imagine trying to function under such conditions.
those people are silly fools. They see the destruction of privacy as a way to gain more information about the enemy. The more information they have, the easier it is to eliminate the enemy and win. The enemy being those who support opposite ideals.
It never dawns on them that they are probably the ones with the most to lose. Can you imagine how acidic it would be to our current adminstration if I could download at the end of the day everything our presidient saw and said? What about if I could download his very thoughts?
But no, foolishly those kinds of people always assume that they will be in control of the genie. It'll never get out of its bottle. No one else will ever make a wish. All the power is for them, for their agenda.
If these things come to pass, the struggle for power as we know it will end. The very people pushing for it will be out of the job, if not hung at high noon for what society finds out about them.
I think the real social problems caused by technology will not be because of the technology, but because of us. It is very unlikely that all of our faculties will be upgraded at one time. The "problems" are going to come from parts of us being evolved but other parts not being evolved. It is going to be like being a teenager all over again.
When a person goes from a child to an adult, the human brain regears itself. There is actually a few years of your life where you have the emotions of an adult but the logic of a child. Most of us remember that, it was the "OMG EVERYTHING IS SO IMPORTANT, I WANT TO DIE" years of highschool.
The difference will be that certain parts of our personalities will be very human and flawed and other parts will be god like. All new social problems will arise from that conflict.
If we have super memories, how does our very human emotions and logic deal with it?
If we have super logic, what impact will that have on society? Have you ever seen war games? What happens when EVERYONE pics the logical answer?
If our minds become digital, can we rewire them? And by who's standard? Ours? The governments? Society?
If the world now shares in our memories and we can now rework our minds, what is to stop fear of isolation and rejections from producing a hive mind, or a world with no diversity?
Boo, Hiss.
