Thread: The "I Just Watched..." Thread

Suicide Squad wins the award for Most Blatant Use Of Licensed Soundtrack To Tell A Story 2K16.

  2. Yup. Strangely though I was ok with how blatant it was.

  3. The Neon Demon.
    Yeah.

  4. Still need to see it, a lot of people recommended it to me but i'm sure it can go either way.

  5. It's certainly something.
There's some beautiful framing and no one can hang onto a shot like Refn.
But there's a thin line between genius and pretentious, and I think it can be argued it falls on either side.

  6. Neon Demon was pretty bad.

I watched the Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift for the first time since it was new. On release I didn't really care for the movie, mostly because it had little to do with the previous F&F movies and I wanted a real sequel to the original, not Alabama Guy's drifting adventures in Japan. Since then we've had several "real" F&F movies, so maybe I can be more objective this time.

This movie is a lot of fun! It's loud, fast, and colorful, and sometimes that's all I need to be entertained. This one will get some repeat viewings in the future.

  8. I like it because Sailor Mars is a background character.

  9. Watched a few eps of Westworld. When it's good, it's real good. But at its worst, it's sado erotic fan fiction of young adult dystopian novels.

Still looking for the Golden Age TV show that's going to steal my heart.

    I guess The Killing did.

    Then it broke it.

  10. So far (for me,) it's never been better than the first season of Dexter. That's the show that changed everything for me, I knew life after it would never be the same. The other seasons, unfortunately, never quite hit that exact high note. Man in the High Castle first episode also hit an extreme high, though some other parts of the first season wandered a bit.

The funny thing with The Killing, by any rights I should love the show, but it also annoyed me. Maybe I need to give it another shake.
