Thread: The "I Just Watched..." Thread

  1. i'm going to die my hair black and pretend i'm am angry young Jack and write stories about myself and claim the characters are all fictional.
    Donk

  2. Just finished watching "Time Code"

Very interesting experiment, in leaving the audience to really choose what they want to see, and what they will follow. Entirely improvised aparently, but good lord the timing and continuous perfection would drive me mad. Except for maybe 2 shots which basically gave away the camera men, job well done.

  3. Just finished watching Deadwood in its entirety. It might just be my favorite show ever. If only they had stretched it out a little longer than three seasons.

Interesting, dont exactly know what to think about it.
I watched this like a month ago myself. Of the Todd Solondz movies I've seen, it's the weakest, but I still enjoyed it. The changing cast thing was a gimmick that did have a point, but wasn't neccessary to make it.

I disagree about the ending, though. Its faux optimism with a relentlessly bleak subtext was pretty brilliant. It's depressing and funny at the same time.

That was kind of the point. If Mark's monologue didn't make that obvious enough. Aviva can change, but inside she'll always be the same. She'll always have the same needs, and she'll never find what she wants.

It is a companion piece to Welcome to the Dollhouse, so if you haven't seen that, it might hurt it a bit.

  7. No Country for Old Men the other night. Was just ok. Not the OMG fantastic movie everyone says it is.
    Xbox Live- SamuraiMoogle

  8. Watched a couple of movies:

Be Kind Rewind- I thought it was OK. The part where they were "Sweding" the movies was the best and funniest. It got a little sappy towards the end and for some reason I didn't like Jack Black's character and I usually love him in everything. I dunno, it was better than Science of Sleep at least.

Run Fatboy Run- I actually hadn't heard of this one and watched it on a whim because it had Simon Pegg on the cover. It had the standard "boy loses girl and tries to win her back" story but it still managed to be pretty funny. Hank Azaria plays the straight man which was also kinda wierd. I didn't know David Shwimmer directed movies now. I definately recommend it though.

Hatchet- Now this movie I liked. Billed as "Old-School Horror" it lives up to the hype. The gore is out there and it's really funny to boot. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and it has plenty o boobers for the guys. Really fun movie a must watch for anybody who is a fan of B-movies or 80s horror films.

EDIT: I guess Run Fatboy Run doesn't come out in the states until March 28th. One good thing about being here I guess is I can get movies early.

    Yore RONG.

kay, so i watched the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. The first fifteen minutes were amazing, and then it kept going.
    Donk

  10. We watched Gone Baby Gone last night. It was really good, even if the ending was abit strange. However, it was interesting that my wife and I completely disagree on what Patrick should have done. I agree on his decision while my wife sided with his girlfriend.

I am glad Ben Affleck is a much better director than an actor, his debut is certainly much better than my expectation.
