Thread: The "I Just Watched..." Thread

  1. Every so often he does that with audience members. It still rules.

    Saw The Bank Job last night and it was alright. Could have been cut down a good 10 minutes, I think that's my main complaint. Story was good, acting was good but the movie takes place in 1971 and there wasn't a single moment that I though the movie took place then. Something was off, it looked too good for the era I think. Set design and cinematography wasn't right (the soundtrack didn't help either with current techno/electronic beats).

    Rock did had some great presence, his fingers got such a workout, and his: "I am a Pimp. Pimps don't commit suicide" is a classic.

    That said, it was a trainwreck of a movie, somewhat entertaining at points but nowhere near the level that Donnie Darko was.

    Justin Timberlake character was a Prophet. Rock was a Decoy Messiah.


    I got the info after director did the interview, and was questioned on stuff viewers didn't get.

    It was rather stupid move, to release the film with only half of the story intact. Not everyone would go and read comics to get the how that begin, most just want to watch the film. It was already too long for its own good. I can just imagine what was in extra 50+ minutes that he cut to get this version.

    Doh, you're right. My bad.

    From what I heard the full cut with the extra 50+ minutes was just painfully long and hard to watch.

  5. I just watched...
    The Truman Show again.

    I absolutely love that movie. I can't give anyone a logical explantion for why it hits me so well, but I just love it.

    Peter Weir did an absolutely amazing job with this (though I will admit, he sped up the pacing a bit too much at the end, with some obvious ad libs and hurry up shots in there), and Jim Carrey was fantastic.

    I also think its amazing how fucking close actual Reality T.V. has come to this. Its nowhere near as inconcievable a show like this could happen right now, as it was only a few years ago.

    Good Stuff for those who don't take a cynical eye into every film they go and see (unless its directed by Micheal Bay).

  6. I always liked the Truman Show, but I think it got a lot of hate and I couldn't really figure out why.

  7. I think a lot of folks were getting it confused with that "reality TV" movie that came out opposite it, Joe TV or whatever the hell.

    And Truman is classic. My favorite Jim Carrey film.
    I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.

  9. I prefer Cable Guy personally, but I really dig Truman Show. Ed Harris does a good job, too.

  10. I never saw the movie Waiting until last night. I thought it was really funny.
