  3. I've been watching the battlestar galactica marathon. I had never really seen mroe than bits and pieces of the series before this. It's good, not great, but compelling enough to keep watching.

  4. It's a solid show. I've only seen seasons 1 and 2 so far.

  5. just watched Chaos. it's almost the same movie as War and also stars Statham.

  6. I don't know if Statham's actually all that good. Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels is pretty terrible, upon review.

  7. He IS good, given good material, which he doesn't get too much off. He got physicality and presence of good action hero.

Chaos has somewhat of bad reputation, but I liked it. While it didn't break any new grounds, it was decent thriller.

  8. Watched Aliens last night.

Good movie (never said it was bad), but that first hour really should have been shortned up a bit. 50 minutes before you ever see an Alien (not couting the dream sequence semi-chest burst, or alien face grabber in a tank) is a bit much. Not sure what all is added into this longer version of the movie, if its just scenes here and there, or if it adds more to the start or end. But either way, that beginning could be a lot shorter and get the same points across.

The movie does do a good job of making you forget that the first 3rd of the movie is build up, with an action scene, fallowed by nearly 50 more minutes of build up before the finale action scene. Not that its supposed to be a balls out action movie, but it leaves that impression. I still stand on that.

BUT, this movie works a lot differently having seen it once before, so that whole time they are wandering around the planet, you would normaly be thinking on first viewing "Oh shit, man, where is that alien?! DON'T GO IN THERE! I bet there is an alien!" They fuck with you for that first 50 minutes. So knowing that you don't see an alien for a while, makes that start pretty boring. And is what probably left the bad taste in my mouth on my second viewing (this being my third).

Last hour and a half is a really entertaining, and the characters that are still alive become more interesting. Ripley gets all bad ass tough, etc. Bishops milky barf is as awesome as ever.

  9. The special edition adds on a lot of stuff: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090605/alternateversions

The theatrical version feels like it gets you into the action scenes a LOT faster, but you miss out on the pre-infestation colony bits, which I dig.

I'm glad you took another look at it, at any rate. It's a favorite of mine.

  10. Wow, I can't believe some of that stuff is cut from the the theatrical version.

Mainly the first three things listed there, those seem like some of the most vital scenes for that first chunk of the movie! And then maybe the only other ones I can't believe is not in it, is the conversation she has with Newt about her daughter and babies.
