Thread: Receivers (Higher End)

  1. Yamaha makes good shit, particularly their lower priced units.

  2. with that denon, and if you have the room, you should really look at towers and a larger center and sub, these will not do your receiver the justice it deserves

  3. Towers are damned ugly though. This set seems pretty good too: http://www.aperionaudio.com/product/...,27,33,61.aspx

  4. I would listen to those first before buying. The center and mains are only rated down to 80hz, and the surrounds at 90hz. That seems awfully high.

For comparison, my mains/surrounds are rated down to 50hz, and my center is rated to 45hz.

  5. I have an Ampeg 18 that's rated at 20 hz.

    Boom Boom Shake the Room.
    Boo, Hiss.

Hell yah! Now you can trash the one you bought from me!!

How much u plan to spend on speakers?

EDIT: you hate towers? Those things are beautiful.... I love them, plus, most towers sound great.

I like the way they sound. Don't like the way they look. But, I might end up going that route anyway.

  8. These seem to have gotten decent reviews through avsforums, etc... http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ATKLSSU

  9. Yeah, I would definitely test out the Athenas. You really just need to go to a high end home theater shop and test out what they have. Not everyone likes the same kind of sound, and each set of speakers (even within the same company) is going to have its own distinct sound.
