I'm excited about the remix. The remaster, not so much. I, however, remain optimistic.

No there were a handful of them elsewhere. I think they were earlier PJ, though. Like Wash and Garden. Song people like but wouldn't make waves if they fucked up real bad.

  3. Wash is a Ten era song and Garden is on Ten....

It's impossible by definition to have a song on a compilation CD without remastering it.

If you mean only the "Ten" songs were raped... no. I only listened to one or two songs on the disc before chucking it, but it was a "VS" song that I was listening to at the moment I decided it was aural shit beyond redemption.

  5. my mistake i meant remixed. I'll have to throw it on again then - see what else is different!

  6. I don't think any song was remixed for Rearviewmirror. Remixes rarely ever happen, especially for compilations. It was the remastering that made the Rearviewmirror songs sound so different.

    Just to clear up semantics:
Remix-Go back to the original multi-track recording and create a new stereo mix. This includes individual track eq, panning, delay, reverb, dynamics/gates, effects, levels, and even maybe deciding to not use an instrument (and anything else that mixing covers).

Remaster-Go back to the original stereo mix and prepare it for a new CD, record, tape, download, etc. This can be nothing more than a straight rip of existing digital data placed on to a new gold master CD in the redbook standard. This can also be (and usually is) changing the eq and dynamics of the original stereo mix.

The difference is remix deals with the original recorded multi-tracks.
Remaster deals with the original stereo mix only.

    ----

So Evenflow is the video cut which is far superior IMO. The others say remix but could be wrong since i got it from wikipedia

Oh yeah - this is the rock band thread - I like rock band, when Ten drops we should all play it.

  8. Well, I guess those three Rearviewmirror songs are remixes then. I'll have to give them a listen. I don't think I ever fired them up.

They all have dub basslines and the drums are sampled from the amen break.

  10. Next week, a 3-pack from some dudes I've never heard of:

    Hey gang!

Here's an early morning surprise for you... an announcement of the DLC arriving on the week of 2/10! We're probably going to be posting the DLC announcements around this time (10am EST) for the foreseeable future in an attempt to sync up with the European rockers waiting for the announcements, so get up early and keep your eyes peeled on Fridays from now on.

This week we're releasing a 3 pack from The Fratellis, featuring tracks from their 2006 album Costello Music!

    Here's the track listing

The Fratellis - Creeping Up the Back Stairs
    The Fratellis - Flathead
    The Fratellis - Henrietta

All tracks are original master recordings.

These tracks will be $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) a piece, or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the full 3 pack.
I wonder if "Texas Flood" will ever come out at this point.
