    Actually thats saccarine(sp?) that has the carcinogen warning, and has found to be pretty much bullshit as the doses found to cause cancer in lab mice were like 300 times what would be considered normal consumption. I believe the warning isn't even there any more.

    Nutrasweet has a warning about a chemical in them that some peope can't digest and might make them sick, a big difference from causing cancer.

  3. You're right, I had them confused...and I know that it's almost impossible to get cancer from sweeteners, but it's just kind of disconcerting to see that on the package.

    But then, what doesn't cause cancer these days, right?

    Soda: once you stop drinking it you really don't need it. I have a soda maybe once a month, more when I treat myself to some fast food (at normal restaurants I am drinking beer or wine) than anything else, and I don't really miss it. It has so much sugar it makes me a little phlegmy, and it's just soooo sweet. Soda is just...so awful for you. One thing you can do to replace it is get some all-natural fruit juice (though most of them are still super sugary, even with nothing added) and dilute it with seltzer.

    You find that while every once in a while a birch beer or a pepsi is delicious, you really, really don't miss it, and you feel better too.

    My entire family doesn't buy ANYTHING with high fructose corn syrup, which is a little worse than just cutting out soda, as practically everything in the grocery store has it. I go get my own snacks and desserts every so often, because a ton of my childhood favourites have that junk in it.

    I really like this idea. I love fruit juice, but it's so sweet, and it never lasts very long (especially for how much it costs).

  6. Most of my family is diabetic, so I'm really used to Splenda. Shit's pretty awesome for baking with if you know the conversions for each recipe... It's not the best thing in the world for you, but I trust it over aspartame (which I do not go NEAR due to migraine trigger issues).

  7. First of all, fuck soda. What in the world do you need that for? Drink water.

    Second, fake sugars are incredibly bad for you. Do the research for reals guys. I'm not your secretary.

    If you need a natural sugar substitute (for what I don't know) maybe try stevia. And of course there's all your OG hippie natural sugar substitutes as well like sucanat etc.

    This is what my girl does.

    I think it tastes horrible, and she says it took her a while to get into it, but fuck if that isn't the healthiest thing you could drink other than water.

  9. Xylitol is pretty damn good. It's almost as sweet as sugar, and way better than aspartame. That shit is evil.
