Well, too bad. People used to think smoking was 'for your health!' too.

And yeller, this is different. Smoke is not one of the basic necessities of life. Food is.
I really hope they someday determine that scientists are actually carcinogenic to mice. That'd fuck everything up pretty nicely.
edit: I still don't understand why people freak out over a tiny bit of MSG but never worry about natural glutamate when there really is no chemical difference minus the salt. Nobody ever flipped out in front of a bowl of pasta claiming the glutamate in the tomato sauce and in the parmesan was going to kill them.

But yes. I don't think any of these things are particularly great for you, but I don't think any of them are nearly as bad as anyone's making them out to be.
Of course, I guess it'd be kind of silly if a smoker was afraid of diet soda giving him cancer.
