Jesus, to live in a country where calling someone a bitchy woman that isn't even human is better than calling someone a body part.

I think it comes a lot from pop culture and acceptable usage, rather than the actual definition of the word itself. It became acceptable to use "bitch" on TV in America in, what - the 90s or so? We see people in power use it, celebrities and such, so it takes some of the loaded nature out of it. Cunt is still pretty verboten (in America) - it absolutely cannot be said on network TV. The definition behind words is secondary in this case (though, I would prefer being called a dog than a vagina, personally. Dogs are pretty cool.)
