Your original thought said the man should (legally) be able to opt out of paying for a child if he signals before the birth and the mother doesn’t get an abortion. So assuming she wants the child and the dad to pay then she needs/wants support. He shouldn’t get out of that. And I think that’s entirely up to her.
On the other side of the guy wants the baby and mandating a woman carry it (like Alabama is suggesting) he can FO. Find another woman or FO.
This does not indicate that every woman needs or wants support. If that’s the case she wouldn’t need the government to enforce anything and there is no opposition legally or otherwise. .
