I am. The authorities apprehended the suspect without a single casualty and, to my knowledge, without trampling a single Constitutional right.

  2. So, what was the reason for the overwhelming armed presence? Does anyone feel there was a credible threat to the city had the bombers escaped? This isn't like staying in your house during a flood, so what was the risk to the community if the bombers got away?

Once we answer that, we can better debate whether this was an acceptable measure during a state of emergency or an unwelcome expansion of police power.

So your issue is the size of the threat? I'm not sure how they could accurately determine that, since they didn't know for sure if they had more accomplices or other key pieces of information.

According to the guy who got car jacked, they told him they planned to do more, including possibly heading to New York. Based on that, I'd say the police had to assume a fairly substantial threat.

When a shooter is loose in a school, is locking the kids in classrooms a violation of their rights too?

A whole lot of businesses lost a whole lot of money.

Every time the President comes to a town, businesses are forced to close or at least not get any customers for some period of time so that the motorcade can be secured. Is that a rights violation too?

I'm not saying all of the side effects are positive, but I don't believe any rights to have been trampled, and the outcome was certainly optimal from a safety standpoint. If it was inefficient as shit, like the TSA, then maybe it's a bad trade, but it certainly didn't seem to be.

Its frightening and telling that you don't think adults that own property and businesses are different from children.

Please enlighten me as to which rights, other than voting, have an age requirement explicitly stated.

  9. Fe, what's your answer to my questions about an immediate, credible threat?

They could determine it by two small yield bombs that killed 3 people.
I'm pretty sure Oklahoma saw a worse bombing, and that didn't necessitate the shutting down of a city.
You could argue that the world isn't the same now as it was in 1995.
I would argue that you were right, but for different reasons.
It's so odd arguing against governmental control with you. It seems like you should be on the side screaming against letting fear dictate freedom.
