Thread: PC Gaming In Your Living Room

  1. PC Gaming In Your Living Room

As HDTVs with HDMI inputs gain in popularity, more people are moving their PCs into their living rooms. In fact, there's so much overlap now in the PC and console market that many people are getting rid of their consoles altogether.

I just moved my PC into my living room. The picture is mindblowing, but I'm still experimenting with control setups. Currently I use a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard combo, with the mouse on a small table to my right. I'd like to hear how the rest of you set things up. In particular, I'm considering a trackball mouse.

  2. I think I might take the trackball plunge some day. I thought the consensus is that they really are better amongst the hardcore (lol) folks, and it just seems way more convenient.

You know, after that monumental adjustment hurdle.

  3. I can't fathom using my PC on any screen larger than 22" but I've been tempted to buy a new video card that allows HDMI. Are cable capture cards available now? I want to run my cable box through my PC so I can TiVo the shit out of programs.

I've always preferred a trackball to an optical, just have to clean it regularly.

  5. I want to get a wireless trackball, since I sit about 10 ft away from the HTPC. I don't game much though on the PC (other than some emulation).

  6. I have a 1080p 37 inch widescreen lcd. I have my computer, Ps3, and Xbox 360 (in the repair shop atm) hooked up to it.

I basically have it on a simple desk about 2.5 feet from my face for computer use and when I am console gaming or watching a movie I have a couch maybe 8 feet or so behind that.

Some people think that this is too close for a monitor this large for computer use, but I haven't had any problems so far.

  7. This thread should include pics. Starting with the above.

  8. That would mean that I would have to clean up my shit and make it presentable. Not sure if I am up for that.

  9. I've thought building a new pc and incorporating it into my living room. The main issue is how to properly control it. I've got a wireless keyboard with a thumbstick for mouse movements. They have those pointer mice. I wonder how well those would work for gaming. They're straight buttah for web surfing.
