    Got this in an email:

    Important Microsoft(R) Points Update

Microsoft Points were made available through the MSN Autos Dream, Design, DriveChallenge while supplies lasted. As of July 18, 2008, supplies available for this promotion were depleted. If you accumulated Points through the promotion site prior to this date, you will receive an email with a coupon code(s) (less the 100 Points received at registration) to deposit in your Microsoft Points account on or about September 19, 2008. To determine your accumulated Microsoft Points promotion balance, please click on the Login tab at the top of the MSN Autos Dream, Design, Drive Challenge home page and login with your username and password. Remember, this total includes your 100 Points for registration.

At its core the feature is eight way group voice chat. It works over all Xbox 360 experiences - all existing games, all new games, the dashboard, movies, media center, everything you can do on the console. The members of your party can each be in a different experience.

There's one button in the guide that allows a player to send game invites to everyone in his live party.

It is not a replacement for in-game parties that a number of triple-A titles have," he admitted. "Live party is about having a social connection prior to entering that game's party."

Essentially, when you start a new game Xbox Live will keep checking to see if you have friends you can invite, and it will also query your party members to see if they are playing games you could join.

For example, a message might come up on starting Uno Rush that "other members of your Xbox Live Party are playing Uno Rush. Would you like to join them?"

There will also be an option to "invite party to current game," if applicable, which will quick launch "any game on your hard drive, memory unit, or disc in the tray.
Is this anything more than a dumbed down XBL? 8 way chat is cool and all but it's going to be really lame if you can use that in games (for example, after you die in a no-respawn game, telling your live teammates where all of the enemies are).

  4. How is it dumbed down? It's more advanced what what is there now.

I think you'll find a pretty good explanation for it here.
    Time for a change

Sucks that people would do it, but cell phones/Vent servers/shouts down the hall already exist.

  7. Like I said, my link should address all of mannerbot's complaints.

In current Live, all you have to do is switch to personal chat. It's been that way from the start and hasn't toppled the holy pillars of the honorable Live experience yet.

  10. Yeah, personal chat only works with 1 other person though.
