Good news: a gamepad with a redesigned d-pad is coming. Bad news: "However, the new pad is "a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last", which is likely to upset fans who feel the d-pad needs full-time replacement rather than a one-off patch for PES."
So I just picked up a system (again) today. I have a 24" Westinghouse I use for my PC (which is right now DVI--->HDMI) and it looks great. Connected the 360 to it via component and it looks like ass in all resolutions. Real blurry and washed out. Is that because of the component (perhaps my monitor doesn't handle the res well over that cord)? I have a spare VGA port on the monitor but for the time being need to use the speakers on it as well so HDMI would seem to be the best choice (I'd have to get a switcher sometime later). You guys think the component is the problem? Wouldn't the VGA cable transmit the sound to the monitor speakers as well?

get a vga cable, it should come with a Y adapter so you can hook the thing up to the speaker in port on the monitor (or, since you say you're using it on your pc, you can do like I do and rig your pc up as a cheapo amplifier...) if it doesn't come with the proper cable, a rca/stereo 3.5mm cable can be found at any halfway-decent music store and/or radio shack for cents on the dollar
edit: re Dyne
CKA, no speaker port that I can see. Seems to be handled through the input jacks.
*edit* nm......I have a green hole (looks like a headphone jack). Never noticed that before.
if the monitor has speakers, then it has an audio in jack (which is likely 3.5mm) because it doesn't really make sense to have speakers you can't access (without hdmi)
here's a quick diagram of how I have my system set up, you can substitute speakers for a 3.5mm extension cable that goes into the monitors audio in jack for your audio needs and it should work just fine
edit 2: this setup has the bonus of letting me control the 360s volume via my pc![]()

Yeah had a durrr moment there. So is it normal to have component make it look like shit?
VGA looks perfectly fine, so I'd assume it's the component cables.
