Is there really a difference between a young black man in Compton and a young white man in the hills of Kentucky with a 17 year old mom with a 6th grade education?
No, both are born with a larger chance to fail.
I don't think that's what I was implying at all. I think the black media are the biggest offenders here, but I also think they do it because they sincerely believe it to be true. Cycle of hopelessness. Blame's kind of not the point.Again, how is "fault" relevant? I don't think this is a problem of malicious intent. All that matters is breaking the cycle.
White people DID keep black people down for centuries, and now they're used to thinking that way. Like a rape victim that doesn't know how to trust men any more. Racism IS still an issue, too, but I think that we need to teach kids to overcome it. That can only be done through leadership, not finger-pointing.

Blame isn't the point. Taking responsibility is. Essentially everything that is wrong with society boils down to people not taking responsibility for their own lives and actions.
Yep. Bankruptcy, abortion, and welfare are all largely the result of people not taking responsibility.
I do believe that inequalities have as much to do with nurture as they do nature but these problems sure as hell aren't going to fix themselves with divisive, completely undemocratic concepts like affirmative action.
And the only way to affect change on this sort of thing is through leadership, not whining and finger-pointing. You can reason with an individual and tell him to work hard and overcome, but you can't do that to a statistical average. And yet Yoshi is the one pointing at a group of millions and insisting that they just change. Conservatives do the same exact fucking thing, only without the sympathetic streak.
You lose.

NZE is fortunate enough to live in a country where the best candidate gets the job. Hell, from the time I've spent in Canada, race doesn't even seem to be an issue. Granted, I've mostly been in Toronto, which is a hugely international city.
