    TNL's Favorite Publishers

Bailey's post in the SNK Arcade Classics thread got me thinking. What are your five all-time favorite publishers, and what are your three favorite series from each of them?

    I'll start us off:

    1. Capcom (Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis)
    2. Konami (Castlevania, Silent Hill, Gradius/Salamander)
    3. SNK (Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown)
    4. Take-Two (2K Football, Elder Scrolls, Grand Theft Auto)
    5. Eidos (Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman)

4 and 5 were tough calls. Mine is really a top 3 and others. I reserve the right to realize I forgot an obvious one and change it.

  2. Quick question, should I do SquareEnix or Squaresoft and Enix separately based n the games I enjoyed?

So I guess should we include companies pre-merger or post merger, or are they two seperate things.

  3. Dreamcast

    Blizzard FTMFW.

I'd say Square, Enix, and Taito are all one company now.

  5. It would probably be easier to break this down by era, as it gets pretty crazy with all the mergers and breakups after 1996

That actually makes it easier. Just count a conglomerate's back catalog all together.

  7. Well then mine goes

    1) Konami (Castlevania, Gradius, Silent Hill)
    2) Capcom (Resident Evil, Final Fight, 194X series)
    3) SNK (Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug, Iron Tank <3 <3)
    4) Take 2 (2k football, 2k baseball, 2k basketball)
    5) Tecmo (Tecmo SuperBowl, Ninja Gaiden, Gallop Racer)

    Honorable mention

EA (General Chaos, Early Maddens, and Dr J vs Larry Bird)

Yes, some are just games, but that was how important they were to me.

  8. 1. Nintendo (Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, Metroid)
    2. Capcom (Resident Evil, Megaman, Street fighter series)
    3. Konami (Silent Hill, Castlevania, Metal Gear
    4. Eidos (Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain Series, Tomb Raider)
    5. Square Enix (Final Fantasy, Chrono series, Dragon Quest)

  9. Capcom: Resident Evil, 90's sidescrollers ala Dungeons and Dragons, Punisher (I loved them), Ghosts n' Goblins series...including Maximo!

Konami: Castlevania, Contra (1 - 4, Hard Corps), Silent Hill

Sega (mid 80's to 1991 only!): During that time Sega just fucking rocked the arcades with Shinobi, Afterburner, Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Outrun..etc. Too bad they stink now ..except for VF5 of course.

Eidos: At first I though..Eidos?? Then I look at my pc gaming collection and see every Tomb Raider, Hitman, Legacy of Kain and Deus Ex game. So yea..I'll add them too!

SNK: I always dug their style. From Iron Tank (still waiting for my sequel!), P.O.W. and Baseball Stars to all their NeoGeo games. I love those guys!

    1. Sega
    2. Capcom
    3. Konami
    4. Square Enix
    5. GameArts tied with Blizzard (they would be higher if either one put out more games a year)
