It's pretty shocking that the Montreal loss was the first time in the team's long history that they've lost after holding a five goal lead, but it would have ended in a tie if it weren't for the godawful shootout, so I don't care much.

Any rational person in the civilized world would take the Rangers crappy-because-Yoshi-says-so Franchise over the Devils in a heartbeat, if given the choice over which of the two they'd like to get for free. I think that says all that needs to be said about which is a better franchise.

It all depends on your measurement. If I have a billion dollars, I'll take the Devils. I don't give a damn how much revenue they bring in, but I want to win. If I'm one of the shitty NHL owners who runs it like a business instead of a hobby, I'd take the Rangers and win at the bank instead of on the ice.

The Rangers are a winning franchise and have won the Cup within the past 13 years. I'd hardly characterize them as a bankrolled team that never wins. You could make a better case for the Blackhawks as being that.

So during the lockout we traded Stevens, Messier, Francis, MacInnis, Hull, etc., trade deadline excitement, and a whole fucking season for Syndey Crosby, a salary cap, and horrid officiating. Awesome.

Even worse are the teams that should be contracted like the Hurricanes. The Rangers and Devils paid them to win the worst Finals ever.
