Thread: Official NHL 2007-2008 Thread 2 Minutes for Hooking

  1. I agree that the SE division isn't up to the Atlantic. Not even close.

Any road game (and your team has more on the road than at home, somehow) this time of year is a difficult game. It doesn't matter what their record is or anything else. Road games are very, very tough (as Washington today evidenced) this time of year.

The Devils seem to have played a lot of OT games this year. Am I mistaken in that? I'd like to see overall records and number of wins in OT via OT and SO's.

They have played a lot of OT games, and it doesn't make me happy because every shootout win is another win in the asterisk column of Brodeur's legacy.

    Hmm, less than I thought.

    Stats

    Summary:
13 total extra time, 7 shootouts, 6 overtime.
8 wins of the 13 in extra time,
    4 of 6 in Overtime
    4 of 7 in shootout.

4 of these overtime games were against Buffalo, 2 against the NYR, 2 against Atl, and one against the Islanders.
That's 7 of 13 games played against New York teams.

The Rangers have played in 15 overtime games,
    9 shootout, 6 OT
    4-5 in the shootout
    3-3 in OT.

The Isles have played in 14 overtime games,
    5 shooutout, 9 OT
    3-5 in the shootout
    4-9 in OT.

I'm surprised the Isles have had so many games end in the 5 minute OT. I'm actually surprised at how many games end in the 5 minute OT period for all teams.

  3. Wow. Look at the Canadians home and away. That's astounding.

    (14-12-5 an 19-9-4, respectively)

    Go figure.

He'll be up there with the greatest ever. Roy, Sawchuck, Hasek, Belfour, etc...

There will always be debate(s) after that.

I'd be scared to play in front of the Montreal crowd too.

    ahem. ex-hawk.

our game against Anaheim was probably the worst thing i have seen all year. not only from an officiating standpoint but also from Lalime. we pulled him after 2 goals in like 3 shots in the start of the first. he goes back in the 2nd period only to get rattled by Bertuzzi. this was a weird one.

while Bertuzzi was in front of Lalime, Pat decides to give him a couple shoves. Bertuzzi mouths somthing to him and the puck gets blasted in the net. Lalime takes a chop at Bertuzzi. they rule no goal because of "unintentional contact" and give Lalime 2 minutes. then Mr. Half Season gets his hat trick scoring points 7-11 in one game. finally towards the end Bertuzzi just straight up PLOWS into Lalime. while he's down Lalime give him the blocker to the back of the head and fists start flying. we also took out Pronger. Sharp had a goal off the face off and Pronger decided to stick his face right where the follow through was (from a wrist shot). Pronger acts like somebody shot him with a shotgun. gloves go flying, he pieroets(?) and has a tantrum on the ice. gets up and storms through the bench to the locker room. on the way there he spikes his helmet in the hallway. there wasn't even any blood.

im also of the opinion that these assholes that decide to be healthy scratches (ie Selane) for half a season should have an asterisk for whatever they accomplish after they decide to come back. it's not fair to people that actually work their job all season.

Your list is too long. No one puts Hasek or Belfour in that category. Hasek doesn't even belong in the best of the era discussion. His awards are a joke. He was always a distant fourth.

anybody not named Brodeur isn't any good to you. this isn't suprising. who WOULD you put in the best of our era besides Roy and Brodeur? i can argue about goaltenders all day my friend and why a lot of the upper tier guys wouldn't be where they are if it weren't for oversized pads and good teams in front of them.
