  1. Details of Hot Coffee settlement revealed.

    http://www.gamecareerguide.com/indus...ettlement_.php

Following Take-Two's announcement that it had settled the consumer class action lawsuits related to the infamous hidden 'Hot Coffee' modification for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a new website is detailing available benefits for the plaintiffs in the case.

The settlement provides for five tiers of compensation depending on the type of purchase proof a plaintiff can furnish. Those who have only a first-edition disc may receive a replacement, while those who retain their detailed store receipt may receive a cash payment up to $35.00. Other types of compensation range from $5.00 to $17.50.

This website was established to provide information about the Settlement of a class action lawsuit involving Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas First Edition.

A proposed settlement of a class action lawsuit will provide a replacement disc and/or cash to consumers who purchased a valid copy of the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game.

    What is this lawsuit about?

Plaintiffs claim that copies of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas First Edition manufactured before July 20, 2005 contained parts that could be modified and combined to display scenes of a sexual nature that have come to be referred to as the “Hot Coffee” content. According to Plaintiffs, the game should have been rated as “AO” (Adults Only) because of the Hot Coffee content. Plaintiffs claim that, by including the Hot Coffee content on the discs and marketing the game under an “M” (Mature) rating, Defendants violated consumer fraud statutes and misled consumers as to the game disc’s content.

Defendants do not dispute that the parts that were modified and combined to display the Hot Coffee content were present in the code of the game discs. However, Defendants vigorously deny each and every allegation of improper conduct, and they deny all liability.

The notice and other settlement documents provide information about the lawsuit, the settlement, your legal rights, what benefits are available, who is eligible for them, and how to get them. To download a notice package, please click here.

  2. Ugh.

  3. I have 2 copies of the orginal disc, does this mean I get twice the dough.

    This is so stupid.

Quite possibly the stupidest video game pre-manufactured "we've got no news so let's look for something to be offended over!" controversy ever.

I have two copies of the original game as well, one on PC and the other PS2. I like money, but not enough to pretend I actually cared about the whole Hot Coffee thing. Stupid, pointless, and a complete waste of everyone's time.

  6. I bought 1000 copies of the original, but for some reason I can't find any of the discs or remember the payment details. Is that $5000?
    No gnus is good gnus.

  7. My wife actually found her original receipt for her GTA:SA back from 2004 (she saves EVERY gaming receipt).

So, uh... how do I get our free $35?

  8. In order to receive benefits and continue, you will need to attest to the following:

If you are not able to make all these attestations, click the “Cancel Form” button at the top of this form to Cancel Your Claim.

    * I bought a GTA:SA First Edition Disc before July 20, 2005; and
    * I was offended and upset by the ability of consumers to modify and alter the GTA:SA First Edition Disc to display the Hot Coffee content; and
    * I would not have bought the GTA:SA First Edition Disc had I known that consumers could modify and alter it to display the Hot Coffee content; and
    * Upon learning the game could be modified and altered, would have returned it to the place of purchase for a refund if I thought this possible.
Anyone that takes advantage of this should be permabanned.

  9. Take-Two can't take this kind of shit, they're not rich enough. If they keep making poor decisions on such high-profile games then EA or Activision will be publishing the GTA series before long. San Andreas was an awesome game and I'm not going to exploit this ridiculous "sexual content" bullshit (because I want more GTA's as they are). Apparently even the sexual content was like a brown smudge on a pixel or two. It wasn't explicit or anything. Fuck America has really dumb censorship standards.

  10. I have a problem with companies not following the rules and marketing an AO game as an M game. Somebody correct me if I'm way off on the facts here.
