I think he is doing it free because if he charged for playtime, it would take it from "home-arcade" into "for-profit business" which can be a major pain in the ass on many, many levels. From taxes, to zoning issues to having proper exits and handicaped bullshit..
Doing it for free just makes him arcade nerd #1.
