Thread: Facebreaker

When I think of "arcade boxing games" I think of POV boxing games.

  2. Fight Night isn't POV.

There are very few boxing games if you think about it. The last arcade one was Ready 2 Rumble, also done with the side perspective.

Punch Out, that championship boxing game with the sticks, and mocap boxing were all arcade boxers.

was Ready 2 Rumble actually released in arcades?

  4. I'm talking arcade style, not released in arcades.

    WTF IS ARCADE STYLE

SO FAR ACCORDING TO YOUR CRITERIA "ARCADE STYLE" MEANS TEKKEN

Look I'm not stupid over here, I just don't see the difference between this and a shitty 3d fighter.

  6. Fight Night is sim boxing. This, Punch Out and R2R are like arcade style fighting. Stereotype caricatures, wacky animation, glowing special moves. And yes, Tekken is an arcade game.

I understand the difference between sim boxing and shitty fighting games, but after the demo why would I want to to pay for a shitty fighting game with stupid characters?

Punch Out, being POV, is an entirely different experience with entirely different gameplay. How is it related?

And why would you even bother calling it a "boxing" game? People are kicking and throwing each other.

Not the style you're looking for, simple as that.

Related because it's mimicing the same sport. Facebreaker is just a more dramatic take on it.

Punch Out is memorization with wacky characters in front of the same arena crowd. Simple boxing mechanics, 2 punch buttons, a power uppercut, a dodge and a block. Facebreaker also has 2 punch buttons, a power shot, dodge, parry and block with wacky backgrounds instead of arenas. The basics are similar, Facebreaker is just taking it further like R2R did.

Did anyone else not understand what I meant when I said arcade boxing?

  9. Finally saw a video of this. I can't see a Punchout! comparison. At all. This game looks like Tekken with a boxing skin slapped on.

Wheeee!!! A generic 3D fighter disguised as something other than a generic 3D fighter! It's like saying SFII is an "arcade boxing game" when you play Balrog Vs Balrog. And Balrog doesn't even kick.

No, wait! Don't go play DoA or Virtua Fighter instead! This is different. See. It has boxers boxing in boxing rings. Goofy boxers! Like Punchout!. You like Punchout!, right? Well, this is like that. Yeah. Except, umm, better! Yeah, that's the ticket. In fact, this game does "Punchout! boxing" so well that it makes Punchout! look bad! Nope, this certainly can't be a par/sub-par Tekken wannabe...

I can only assume that since you don't like it that its going to be awesome.
