I concur. That section should have been done as a cutscene. The developers painted themselves into a corner with the way the ending was going, but there could have been a fix to this. Epic's mistake was killing the "Big Bad", Skorge, at the end of Chapter 4. I would have rewritten that scene where Skorge lands on the ground after his ride dies, looks as the heroes fly away from him and yell at them.
He then re-emerges after you destroy the three columns at the end of Act 5, cutting the helicopter carrying the lightmass bomb in half and knocking out the Brumak you were riding, throwing Marcus and Dom on solid ground. Final boss fight with Skorge ensues, and if you win, then the Brumak mutates into Lambent Brumak, where Marcus & company Hammer of Dawn it to death.

I agree that Skorge was far less climactic of a boss than Raam. Also didn't help his overall impact that he never actually did anything particularly devastating on-screen. Raam was introduced by that wicked slo-mo of him destroying your squad leader in a tangible act of "this dude will mess you up", whereas it was only implied that Skorge offed lieutenant redneck.

Even his boss battle was lame. You didn't even actually fight him. You dodge the shit he throws at you and do a few chainsaw duels that are probably impossible to lose. I say Cow's ideas is perfect. He comes back, fucks up the chopper with the lightmass bomb, and then knocks Marcus and Dom off the Brumak. An actual fight will then ensue with the Brumak running around rampant in the background, maybe throwing some shit your way for you to dodge. Finale is that once you do enough damage to Skorge, he gets into a chainsaw duel with both Marcus and Dom at the same time and this one actually takes some skill (aka serious button mashing) to win and cut that bitch to shreds. Then the Brumak starts to go lambent. You get picked up by the chopper and proceed to Hammer of Dawn the shit out of him.
Who knows, maybe Epic is actually going to pull their buy a boss and have some sort of DLC that adds a much better ending down the line.

Call me a whiner but having the mortar available in Wingman is dumb. The spawn points are already messed up in that mode and the team that spawns closest to the mortar usually wins. Bah! This game really does feel like it needs a weapon balancing patch way more than part 1 ever did.
Ah well. Horde is still insanely fun provided you can get a good group going. I'm surprised that I've barely spent any time in TDM considering that's the mode I like most. I must be losing it.
Netwurked wants 5 shots in the boom since he tend to be the Razor of boom.
I'd generally agree but with the way Wingman is set up, the mortar becomes too much. In certain levels it's very easy for a team to just spam it while camping comfortly in a safe area while the partner keeps everyone away with gunfire. It's not a problem in TDM since you have an entire team to coordinate with but in Wingman you only have your partner to deal with them while other teams are attacking you from other directions which further distracts you from concentrating on the mortar goons.
I'm sure I'll eventually come up with an effective counter strategy but right now it's a pain in the ass....yet I can't stop playing.![]()
For those of you who have finished the game on Insane, how did you get through the part where you have to shoot down the tower with the Centaur tank? After Marcus yells, "Dom, shoot down the tower," the turrets and rockets that appear destroy me before I can even get off enough shots to bring the tower down. The tower can't be brought down, and the turrets and rockets don't appear, until after you reach a specific spot on the ledge that triggers Marcus' instruction to Dom. I eventually did get past it, but I had to sort of cheat by backing the Centaur to the trigger spot, boosting back up the ledge, and then peeping in-and-out from behind the mountain cover to shoot the tower. There has to be another way to do that part.
