How often are games announced at E3 for the same year anymore? We're missing some dates for stuff like Sly 4, Luigi's Mansion 2, etc., but I don't see a lot we don't know about hitting this year. It's more feasible on the 3DS than anywhere else I would think though, because of the reduced development time.

It definitely looks like the single player will be relying heavily on scripted events ala COD.

I just hope they don't fuck up the multiplayer since that's where the replay value will come.

Also, you guys need to play Alien Resurrection (PS1) if you haven't. I've been slowly playing through it for a few months now and it is the tits. Probably the best 3D game on the PS1 and right up there with the PC AvP games in terms of quality.

I think you misspelled Resident Evil, Silent Hill, or Tomb Raider.

  5. Nah, I've played all three of those recently, and Tomb Raider has aged horribly. Silent Hill is still playable but ridiculously foggy. RE might compare somewhat, but its background graphics are prerendered.

Alien Resurrection is just amazing graphically for a PS1 game. Also, unlike RE, the gameplay in Alien Resurrection is seamless and there is no in-game loading aside from the title screen.

Alien Resurrection looks like a Half Life reskin, from the youTube videos. Not bad, but nothing mind breaking.

Did you mean best looking 3D game on PS1?

edit: I just watched a video of it:

    1. It's nowhere close to Half-Life
    2. It is impressive for a 3D PS1 game
    3. My memory of Jaguar AvP looks better. No I am not going to ruin that memory by watching videos for comparison.

  8. Crash 2 imo.

  9. Trust me, you don't want to watch or play Jaguar AvP these days. It has aged poorly.

For its time, though, that was probably the best Alien console game.

Half Life is a good point of comparison. They have a similar atmosphere.

I think you meant Soul Reaver.
