It was amazing in 1994. You have to remember that the only comparison points on consoles would have been the Genesis and SNES.

Well, SNES had Doom and Wolfenstein.
You could sort of call what the SNES had Doom.
Dont forget Super Noah's Ark.
Jaguar AvP was definitely the best console FPS when it was released. Eventually, it got surpassed by some PS1 stuff like Final Doom, Powerslave, Disruptor, et al.
