By the way, I decided to go right into Super Metroid after finishing this one. Man, this game is way more float-y than I remember (especially compared to AM2R). Took a minute or two to adjust.
This is a lot of fun, I played it for about an hour on Tuesday. Really well done, controls are solid, music is fantastic.
