Mom and Pop stores are dead around me. The porno room in the one that used to be up the corner from me was glorious.
Now I go to Hollywood Video.

When I'd lived in North Dallas, I'd frequent Movie Trading Company. They were the place to go, when DVD was starting out. Blockbuster recently bought them out though, so it's not quite as cool as it used to be. http://www.movietradingcompany.com/
I now live in a town of about 20,000 residence, outside of Dallas. My only choice is Blockbuster, but my wife has been using NetFlix for about 4 years. I'll rent videogames, and the occasional Blu-Ray movie from Blockbuster, but I've started using her NetFlix account for Blu-Ray as well.
I wasn't aware they even carried blu-ray stuff.
I didn't realize that locally run places were so sparse these days.
I would probably use Netflix when I was at home were it not for the Naro. Here I tried to sign up for a Netflix equivalent called LoveFilm, but when I signed up we never got any of the movies they sent out, and they tried to charge us £40 for the disks we never got. So, yeah, we don't use that anymore.

These days, Netflix fucking owns.

I use to have netflix/blockbuster online, but what I found is I was getting a whole lot of movies. But I wasn't watching them, I watched maybe one in four. Did this happen to anyone else?
No.
And I watch them all because I watch them later through questionable means.
I very rarely rent anymore, there's an awesome used bookstore near here where I can buy nearly any common DVD for $5.00 or less. Considering that most of the rental places cost $4 or more to rent, why bother?
When I do rent, I usually go to Movie Gallery (owned by Hollywood Video.) It's located on the bad side of town, so the rentals are cheap, and I usually have a rent 1 get 1 free coupon, making it like $3.50 for two movies. Their game rentals can go straight to hell, though. It costs $7.00 to rent a Wii or 360 game, fuck that. The only good game rental store around here closed shop last May, I bought almost my entire NES, SNES, and Genesis collection from them.
We have a Blockbuster in town too, but every time I go in there I LOL at how shitty a rental place it is. Thousands of copies of just a few movies, with nobody renting anything because it costs too much. It's a good place to buy though, they sell shit that has only been rented once very cheap.
