Wow, good work man!
Lucky getting to go to Savannah. I was a Scaddie for four years, I really miss it out there.
Some of you may be interested in these. Like many undergrad schools' programs, UF has a design studio each semester. Our program is focused primarily around physically constructed models versus rendered designs. The first semesters focus on theoretical concepts of scaled spaces, and gradually become more explicit in language. I'll give a breakdown of each project to let you know what the fuck I was trying to accomplish. I have quite a few, so I guess I'll just upload them as I take pictures of them.
Design 1 (These are old pictures; lower quality):
Cube project. This was actually the very first assignment we had; basically, we had to construct 3 3" square cubes using a combination of folded planes and a linear system.

Expansion of cube: Here we took elements of the 3" cube and incorporated it into a second rendition of a 9" cube. I chose to contrast them with the two different materials, wood and bristol paper.

Design 2:
We actually only did one model this semester; otherwise it was all drawings. This project is entitled "plenum", which is supposed to have a connection between the ground (pre-existing condition, note the constructed slats on the bottom) and the sky. The human scale is simply implied.

Design 3:
Door, Window, Stair: One of the two "defining" projects of our lower division program (first four semesters), DWS solidifies the model as a machine for human involvement. It solidifies certain aspects of movement, and is given a definite scale, through the use of stairs. (Only have some detail shots right now).

Savannah Intervention: Basically, we romped around historic Savannah, and at the end of the day, considered an intervention within the city. My professor chose an old hollowed out jail for the intervention (which SCAD owns now), and we had to create a program that centers around displaying something or another. I chose a restaurant of sorts, which is solely sampling.

Design 4:
Tower: In contrast with a lot of our projects thus far, we studied working up instead of out, and at a much larger scale. My professor gave the constraints of being within Shanghai, and that it can contain any proportion of housing, work area, museum, etc.. I centralized my idea around lilong housing, which is being swallowed up as housing moves towards towers. I wanted to focus on the neighborhood aspect, so I focused on recreating a neighborhood within a tower.

Growing up within an hour of Gainesville probably didn't hurt, either.
Seems like there's a LOT of money spent in Savannah every year on historic restoration projects, probably not a bad racket to get involved in.

Ha! We used to go to the movies in Orange Park. I went to high school in Crescent City off Highway 17, I probably played your football team at some point.
My dad's got a place on Blanding Blvd. these days.

very interesting designs, I really like them, although I do not at all envy you having to put those together.
