    East
Canadiens over Bruins in 5. I think the Bruins can take a game, but they won't top Montreal and their power play.
Penguins over Senators in 4. Sweep, Pens have the better offense and the better goalie(s), plus want revenge for last year.
Capitals over Flyers in 6. Might finish sooner, but I'll give the Flyers two wins before Ovechkin and co. advance.
Rangers over Devils in 6. If this goes Game 7, I'll take NJ. But the Rangers play them well, I guess they're my pick as maybe Marty can't do it alone.

    West
Red Wings over Predators in 6. We all wonder how soon the Red Wings get bounced as usual, but I'll give them this series.
Sharks over Flames in 5. Sharks are playing well heading into the playoffs, Iginla and Kipper might steal a game or two but not enough to win the series.
Avalanche over Wild in 6. Can't say I've seen much of the Wild to pick them over the Colorado reunion, who I don't believe are playing particularly well yet.
Ducks over Stars in 7. Wonder how many goals we see in this series, could easily be fewer games with the right bounces.

    Eastern Conference
    Montreal in 5
    Ottawa in 6
    Washington in 6
    New Jersey in 7

    Western Conference
    Detroit in 6
    San Jose in 5
    Colorado in 6
    Anaheim in 6

It's interesting to note that Carolina had more wins than 3 East playoff teams. The Rangers led the league in loser points.

  5. East:
    Montreal d. Boston - 5
    Pittsburgh d. Ottawa - 5
    Washington d. Philadelphia - 6
    New York d. New Jersey - 6

    West:
    Detroit d. Nashville - 4
    San Jose d. Calgary - 7
    Minnesota d. Colorado - 6
    Anaheim d. Dallas - 5
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  6. #6
    East
    Montreal in 5
    Pittsburgh in 4
    Washington in 6
    Devils in 7

    West
    Detroit in 5
    San Jose in 6
    Minnesota in 7
    Anaheim in 6

Ottawa isn't winning shit. They're abysmal. The safe pick is Pitt in 5 but that's no fun, is it?

Detroit has a history of shitty first-round exits but I think this year they're going to be monsters. Don't underrate them because of Ottawa-like shit in the playoffs, they're a really fucking good team, way better than the last three or four years.

    Sleeper Upsets
Colorado's oldies can come back and take Minnesota, but if there's going to be a major upset it will be Boston over Montreal.

Montreal is, as Yoshi mentioned, soft, and the Bruins are big but their injuries have crippled the offense. If they can get solid production from the defensemen and drag the series out Montreal's high-flying offense might get bogged and lose in a long series.

The Stars are really good, but I can't see Anaheim losing in round one.

The Devils-Rangers series is supposedly all about the goaltenders, but I think that's bull. It's about the Devils shitty defense corps stepping up, which will include a Bryce Salvador who hasn't played in a while, giving Marty the backup he needs. Most importantly, the deciding factor in this series being long or short will be the Devils offense. Parise was robbed on a gwg opportunity and then, with Queen Henrik in his head, flat out chuffed an even better chance with the whole net to shoot at. That top line has to finish, they have to play like stars, and they have to score when they get the chances or this series could be over very quickly. If it's 0-2 going to MSG then the series will be over before it starts.
    HUGELY RELEVANT STAT:
The Devils have scored 1 power play goal ALL SEASON against the NYR. That is not going to cut it, especially with a subpar PK.

I think you're all overrating San Jose, but Calgary isn't very good.

    BEST SERIES TO WATCH:
    East
    Washington - Philadelphia

Both teams are coming on strong into the postseason. The Flyers have really elevated their play, and Washington is white-hot. It ought to be great, lots of offense, especially with the spectacular Flyers PP.

    West
I'd probably watch Minnesota and Colorado. Those teams always have spectacular games against each other.

Three of the games played on the last day in the NHL ended in shootouts.

  10. Cow, I'm guessing you didn't see that I edited in the full schedule in the first post before posting it yourself 40 minutes later.
