Our all time favorite spot is the Olympic Hot Springs at the Elwha River. It's about a 3 mile hike into the Olympic National Park with natural hot springs (they smell a bit sulphury but whatever) that people have built up a bit to deepen the pools. Here's a pic, this is where I proposed to my wife.

BTW - car camping is for posers, fuck that shit. Hiking in is the only way to go.
What kind of tent do you pack? I'm eyeing a few Nemo tents.

  2. I love going camping. Really roughing it, no RVs or anything. Best place I've camped has to be Calaveres north of Sequoia. That place is so beautiful. It's not as crowded as Sequoia, so it's more relaxing.

My family are big BBQ people, so someone's always having a big party with football, beer, and good food.

Snowboarding is really the closest thing I ever got really big into that is pretty outdoorsy, and my year living out in the Rockies was one of the greatest of my life. I had a season pass to Sunlight (Glenwood Springs), and the view of Mt. Sopris from the lifts as just incredible. I wish we had big mountain snowboarding out east. All the mid-Atlantic accessible resorts are more like hills. You can bomb any trail in 30 seconds.

I never did go rafting, although I would have loved to, along with other cool shit like mountain biking. I was a poor-ass busboy snowboarder and didn't have cash for much more than my gear, my season ticket, and rent.

I did camp once up on the same mountain that Sunlight is on, and wow...the stars when you are up in the mountains are fucking awesome. You can see shooting stars like every five minutes too. We started getting a little freaked out when we started hearing the coyotes going off at night.

Rafting is amazing. It's been way too long since I have gone. The last time was on the Ocoee in Tennessee.

We've got a 3 season REI tent, I can't quite remember which model. I'm not to keen on REI, but we got a good deal on it and it actually is a pretty nice tent. A little heavier than I'd like, but we don't carry a lot of gear anyway so it's worth it.

  6. I enjoy just walking around/sitting down in the woods, either just taking a nature walk or playing guitar outside. I never seem to feel so inspired to write a riff as when I'm sitting on a log surrounded by miles of trees and the such.
Also the shoreline (when it's not filled with dead fish) is a great place to be and play music. I like Roch because we have both a shoreline and many woodsy areas.
    And camping is the shit.

Cool. Right in backyard, too, so I'll definitely hit up the Olympic Nat'l Forest website and find a spot to hike to w/the g/f.

  8. We went white water rafting once (Tain came, too). Gauley River after some really heavy rains, it was a blast.

Yeah there's something about the beauty of nature that helps
you get in touch with your feminine side.

  10. The fuck? How are any of these activities feminine?
