    I'm guessing his recent promotion, somehow pulled him away from creative input with the magazine. It was probably Ziff-Davis creating a clean break, so that the advertisers would stick around.

    Yeah, he was pretty much the face of Ziff's integrity crusade. This makes me worry that those days are over and Ziff is now poised to go the way of Gamespot, his statement that he left of his own accord notwithstanding.
