Thread: I'm Tired of Irfanview

  1. I'm Tired of Irfanview

Irfanview crashes nonstop on my XP install. What's a good alternative? I don't like Picasa, at all... Is ACDsee classic still around? What do people use?

  2. Adobe Bridge

Paintshop Pro has a really good image browser/viewer from memory.
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.

  3. Hmm, I might give them a go, Irfanview would be perfect if it was stable. Any word on if any older version is preferable?

  4. What exactly do you want to use it for?

  5. Just for viewing pictures in fullscreen. As basic as possible, I don't need any fancy functions. Fewer features, the better. (For editing I use Photoshop.) Naturally I also want stability. Whenever i 'browse this folder' with Irfan, it crashes. I'm currently looking at XNview.

  6. does reinstalling irfanview fix the crashing problem? I use irfanview and I haven't had anything even remotely resembling a crash with it (hell I was unaware that it could even crash at all)

  7. Same.

  8. Thanks. I'll try re-installing.
    edit. Heya, it worked! yay!

  9. 1. Restart
    2. Reboot
    3. Reinstall

If those 3 things don't fix the problem, then ask.

  10. also, if anybody wants it, here's a icon set I found for irfanview that makes the icons look more photoshop-esque (because that roadkill icon gets on my god damn nerves)

to use this, drop the dll into \Program Files\IrfanView\Plugins, open Properties/Settings, click the Extensions tab and hit the Miscellaneous button, and finally select "use different icons (Icons-Plugin)"
