Thread: Diablo III

  1. Belial down. Fuck that asshole. Fuck him so hard.

It also got me like 6-7 achievements, and Lashing Tail Kick is fucking ridiculous OP in that fight. I juggled that asshole like it was MVC3.

Then let me say it: These are VERY good changes. One of them also invalidates a complaint in in my review, but that's a good thing (namely about legendaries being shitty and rares being where it's at).

The only one that's bad is the repair cost thing, because at 4x the cost that means trying to learn new stuff in inferno will be a huge monetary hit. Yet another push for grinding gear over experimenting with abilities, which is kind of shitty.

  2. They're very necessary changes, though the repair costs one is kind of stupid. But least they didn't go with the option of increasing rez timers. Rez timer's being absolute garbage of a penalty when it goes from usable (3-10 seconds) to just fucking irritating (30 second rez timer). A penalty for death is good, but when it hurts your ability to experiment it's just annoying. Especially when some packs really are just impossible.

But yeah Act 1 I can breeze through super fast and some packs in Act II are just impossible. And this is after a week of grinding and buying gear and shit; the wall is huge into Act II and Act III is even worse (But it's not as crappy of an Act as Act II)

    Do it.

And by do it I mean be my friend and click on stuff with me.

    So there's been a June 9 Hotfix:

Act 1 Royal Crypt jars no longer drop gold
Act 2 Ancient path goblin removed
Act 2 Black Soulstone quests exp reward reduced in all difficulties to about 20% of their original value
Act 2 Guardian tower spiders no longer drop gold
Act 3 Resplendent chest in under-bridge and keep depths removed
Act 3 Tyreal only does around 1.4k per swing now
Act 3 Meteor that can kill the first pack of mobs on first quest no longer hits them

I'm quite sure they've altered gold from other pots as well. I felt like I was easily getting 150K from Hell Soulstone quest and otherwise getting roughly that much in an hour just in general play, and last night I tried to play a bit and only pulled like 80K down. The session felt terrible. I'm curious to see how much Neph stacks help in Nightmare just to make things easier and put on more garbage gold %+ equipment. Otherwise, this seems like it keeps getting worse.

RMAH goes live in two days!

  5. Those changes are garbage. They're trying to fix issues that were around for so long that they've already corrupted the AH to hugely inflated prices, and destroys some of the necessary farming. All this does is totally fuck over any new players.

Well, and push people further towards the RMAH.

  6. I used to think Blizzard were really great at balancing their games - now I realize they're horrible at it. They take way too long to patch things in, in spite of having weekly maintenance and in a game with a real money auction house those problems will just be even more obvious.

  7. What? They nerf shit in Starcraft faster than you can learn the technique.

  8. Blizzard balancing happens on a macro level. In the short term changes seem horrible but then you look back at the game a year later and are like, "wow this game got a lot better."

Hope none of you guys played the game tonight, like I did!

The exploits involve players changing their clock to alter the timer on their items being sold. If you bid (not buyout) on an item there is a chance that the seller will be able to steal your money by making the timer go to 0, then reversing the clock by 2 days and cancelling the trade (getting the gold and the item). Alternatively working with a friend you can quickly run up your money, hence the 2 billion dollar auctions out there tonight.

I'm seeing the word "rollback" being tossed around everywhere but the only thing which I can find confirmed is that the items purchased with duped gold are going to be deleted.

Rollback or not, I'm not seeing much of any compelling reason to continue playing the game, at this rate.

Something about the game itself is starting to rub me the wrong way.

It's hard to pinpoint, but I almost feel like there are too many story segments and in-between the action moments that make a 3rd or 4th playthrough a slog, let alone however many people are up to. I still feel Diablo 1 did a better job with the game type in that it kept it very simple with the dungeons. It was all randomly generated level exploration and killing enemies for loot, the end. There are a lot of areas here that still have that feel, and that's where the game shines best. Too many areas are not random and just feel like timesink filler.
