I couldn't find a Daytona USA rom that worked for the emulator (bad dumps probably) but I played some Sega Rally Championship. It's not perfect yet, but the game is very playable, with a tiny bit of stuttering and graphical glitches here and there. This shows a lot of promise, and I have no reason not to think the emulation could be perfect soon.
My PC sucks, so that could be part of the slowdown. 1.8 GHZ Athlon with an old Radeon AGP card.
