Thread: New Model 2 Emulator Is Out! *faints*

  1. So, I know this is the model 2 thread, and I know we've talked Model 3 before, but lets bring it back up.

How viable is Model 3 emulation?

The only publically available Model 3 emulator is MAME, and it's slow and buggy. There is also an internal stand-alone emu called Supermodel written by the same guy who wrote the MAME driver, but it is not available to the public, and reportedly a very debug-oriented program (i.e. no interface, not user friendly, and not possessing any of the usual niceties)

  3. Gross.

If it says you're missing a bunch of files, google for a specific model2.zip that's slightly under 500 KB in size. It contains shared files for various Model 2 games that aren't included with the most common daytona.zip.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home from work. It would be good to finally retire the old PC port of Daytona "Deluxe" that I have.

  6. Man, this new version is great even if you don't use a wheel. The limits were jacked up before so you couldn't steer properly, but now it plays great with a pad or a wheel.

Still suffers from the "invisible wall glitch" a bit, but not as severely.

I'm really hoping they get this thing playable online.

  8. My bad guys I forgot mention you need the new Model 2.zip file. It's available right on the front page of the nebula forum. And I highly recommend you guys ask any questions you want over there. Peabo and Wesker are very friendly and will even take suggestions to give El Semi.

I am HOOKED on that nebula forum now! I have to refresh ever 5 minutes in case there's new news on the progress of the emu

Not gonna happen for a very long time bro. I *JUST asked about this a couple days ago* and got flamed and called a troll. Bottom-line is Haze and his crew are a bunch of elitist pricks and have VERY fucked up principles regarding MAME and what's proper for the emulation scene. The chances of them implementing hardware acceleration support is slim to none(not to mention force feedback).

    *gives the finger to Haze*

  9. I agree with Haze that hardware acceleration has no place in MAME and emus that use HW accel are less accurate and don't fit in with MAME's mission statemtent of emulating games as completely as possible.

No idea why they'd resist force feedback though. That's a legit part of the hardware that should be documented and implemented like any other.

  10. Does Top Skater's music play now? The second everything's good, I will build a home controller for this game.
