As pointed out above Thief's post, I think I might have fixed this and some of the other glitches. I deleted the TNL Classic skin and made a temporary replacement that should function better.

does it happen with different images?

I'll clarify, if it happens with any image you try to upload it might be a permissions problem (I uploaded images to the gallery just fine in the new classic skin, so at least the security token is in it now), and if it's not that it's more than likely a cached page problem

Is anyone else, particularly any Firefox 2 users, having trouble with using the search feature in the navigation bar? If so, what skin are you using?
