I don't have any idea how you go about finding a good group to ride with...
I literally just ran into these guys on the trial one night.

The local bike shops around here have a few group rides every season, but they're usually fund raisers of some sort where you have to get pledges or make donations or something.

Seems like a riding club would be a reasonable thing to find at a college campus, but I've never known of one.
    You should start one!
I saw fliers for a campus bike club, but never really responded. I'm waaaaaaay out of shape and the medicine I'm on does funny things with making me dizzy if I exert myself a lot. I'd feel kind fo silly trying to keep up with people

We have a charity thing nearby, and it's just "donate what you want, ride as long as you want" sort of thing. The bike shop guys told me they get a lot of people not taking it seriously (in a good way) to just go for fun, so I might look into that this spring.

  2. So the little Razor piece of shit I bought at Wal Mart will be destroyed within 2 weeks. I can feel it.

Also, I went to Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday and found the bike I've been wanting for like 6 months to a year. I wanted the Green Frame, but this one is apparently last years model with a black frame (its pretty sexy)

Its the Diamondback Joker, the tag said "clearance" and $169.99 but I don't really feel like paying over 130 for the bike. Does anyone know if there are coupons for in store floating around or should I just go in again and try to haggle saying that since its last years model thats why its on clearance and try to talk the dude down.

I doubt its like haggling for a car, but god damn I want this bike bad.

  5. Well, I didn't get my Diamondback Joker, but I DID get this beauty:

Its a Schwinn ruler and I love it so far, the bike fits my hight/weight really well and I love the paintjob.

  6. That's a really sweet looking bike. Seems like a mash of the old school and a BMX bike or something.

  7. Well its a 26 inch frame so its a decent size bike. I was mainly attracted to the Blackwalled tires ( I guess they are all blackwalls unless you get the Whitewall tires, but whatever) Also the spring fork for the occasional curb or two so I think its a good thing I got this bike.

Can't wait to ride the shit out of this tomorrow.

Psh. I jump at least a foot a good amount of the time and I don't have no spring fork.

I've gotta make up for that pic you posted in Face Off.

Oh it is, it rides like smooth butter The seat makes alot of difference too. I always thought the spring dampened seats were gay until I tried this one, wow. just wow.

LOL. Someday I might get more adventurous with this bike, but its more of the honeymoon period still, trying to take care of my bike as long as I can to keep it looking sharp. Also, curbs here are nothing like California, they all have rounded edges and weird things like that. I don't even know.

Also, I'll never have as epic of a picture as that ever again. It was a one shot deal for me.
